Current Context: The Central Athlete Injury Management System (CAIMS) was launched by Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju.
Central Athlete Injury Management System (CAIMS)
  • The CAIMS was launched to streamline the sports medicine and rehabilitation support that is granted to the athletes.
  • The system will grant the best of sports injury management support and will standardize the injury treatment protocol for athletes in India.
  • The support will commence for athletes who are a part of the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) development group who will be participating in the 2024 games.
  • The system will work to grant on-time treatment to the athletes who are injured, and rehabilitation support will be offered at the athlete’s geographical location within India.
  • The CAIMS committee members include experts like Dr SKS Marya, Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala, Dr BV Srinivas and Shrikant Iyengar.
  • The management structure of CAIMS include: Athlete Wellness Centre, On-field Sports Medicine Experts, National Resource Referral Teams and Central Core Team
