Current Context: The Chief Minister of Assam, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma launched Chief Minister Sishu Seva Scheme.
Chief Minister Sishu Seva Scheme-- Assam
  • The scheme was launched to grant the service to the children who lost their parents due to COVID-19.
  • He also handed over the cheques of financial assistance support to a few of such beneficiaries.
  • The scheme will grant financial support of Rs. 7,81,200 in the bank accounts as a fixed deposit in the name of each beneficiary.
  • From this amount, the monthly assistance of Rs. 3500 will be given to the beneficiaries till the age of 24 years.
  • On completion of 24 years of age, the principal amount parked as a fixed deposit against each beneficiary would be credited to their bank accounts.
  • For this scheme, the Assam’s government would give Rs. 3500 per month per child including Central government support of Rs. 2000.
  • The state government also announced to enrol the children below 10 years and adolescent girls with no guardian in one of the child care institutions and support them with adequate funds to continue their education.
