DAC approved Rs 43000 cr RFP to Construct Submarines

Current Context: The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh approved the Request for Proposal (RFP) of the Indian Navy for a mega submarine tender worth Rs 43,000 crore.
DAC approved Rs 43000 cr RFP to Construct Submarines
  • It is approved under Project P-75 India (P-75I) as a Strategic Partnership Model.
  • This will enable to construction of six conventional diesel-electric submarines.
  • The tender was issued to Larsen & Turbo (L&T) and Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL).
  • The DAC also allotted Rs 6000 crores to modernize the Indian Navy’s Air Defence Guns and Ammunition. This was approved under the Buy and Make (India) category.
