Denmark Signed Framework Agreement on ISA with India

Current Context: The Kingdom of Denmark signed the framework agreement on the International Solar Alliance (ISA) and Instrument of Ratification with India.

• By doing so, Denmark has become 1st nation to ratify the ISA framework agreement.
• The copies were signed by Freddy Svane, Ambassador, Royal Danish Embassy.
• The announcement of this was made by Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Arindam Bagchi.
• ISA is an alliance of over 120 nations which is initiated by India. It was launched by PM Narendra Modi and then Prance President Francois Hollande ahead of the 2015 UN Climate Change Conference in Paris, France.
• The ISA aims to have efficient usage and consumption of solar energy in order to reduce dependency on fossil fuels. It also aims to contribute to implementing Paris Climate Agreement by deploying solar energy.
