Current Context: The Government of Assam has entered into MoU with the Survey of India (SoI) which is the National Mapping Agency to implement the SVAMITVA Scheme in Assam.
Government of Assam signed MoU with Survey of India
  • The SVAMITVA signifies Survey of Villages and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas.
  • The SVAMITVA Scheme aims to provide an integrated property validation solution for rural areas.
  • The scheme will be implemented by the Union Ministry of Panchayati Raj, and the Assam Government's Department of Revenue and Disaster Management with the support of the Panchayat and Rural Development.
  • The Survey of India (SoI) will be the technology partner and will perform the necessary steps for a survey of inhabited rural land by drone.
  • The SoI will establish ground-based control stations which will allow a detailed spatial database of properties in rural areas.
  • The MoU will help to reduce property related disputes in rural areas and legal cases of the state.
