IAF and IN participated in Passage Exercise with the US

Current Context: The Indian Air Force (IAF) and Indian Navy (IN) participated in the Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with the United States Navy during its asset transit through Indian Ocean Region.
IAF and IN participated in Passage Exercise with the US
  • The exercise was held south of Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala on the western seaboard.
  • The Indian side was represented by INS Kochi, INS Teg, P8I and MiG 29K Aircraft.
  • The US side was represented by Nimitz class of aircraft carrier Ronald Reagan, Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Halsey and Ticonderoga class guided-missile cruiser USS Shiloh, F-18 fighters and E-2C Hawkeye.
  • The exercise was held to boost bilateral relationship between both nations, coordinate in the maritime sector and exchange best practices for maritime air power.
  • The participated members conducted advanced air defence exercises, cross deck helicopter operations and anti-submarine exercises.
