Current Context: The Union Cabinet chaired by PM Narendra Modi approved various MoUs of India with other nations.
Union Cabinet approved Various MoUs
  • Followings are the MoUs and agreements signed:
    • (1) MoU between India and Argentine: It was approved for the sector of Mineral Resources. It was signed between the Ministry of Mines of GOI and the Secretariat of Mining Policy of the Ministry of Productive Development of Argentina’s government. This will enhance cooperation between both the nations in minerals resources sector like mineral exploration and development, extraction, mining and beneficiation of lithium. Exchanging technical information will also take place. Due to the MoU, the formation of a joint venture in areas like base metals, critical and strategic minerals for the mutual benefit of both the nation will also take place.
    • (2) MoU between India and Maldives: It was approved for the sector of Sustainable Urban Development. It was signed between the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, GOI and the Ministry of National Planning, housing and infrastructure of Maldives’s Government. The MoU will help to create employment opportunities in the area of Sustainable Urban Development. The Joint Working Group will also be framed to implement and execute the initiatives of the MoU.
    • (3) Cabinet approved the Model Tenancy Act. This will help to enhance rental housing in the country. It will lead to creating rental housing market, which will thus raise rental housing stock for all the income groups and the issue of homelessness will be solved.
    • (4) Cabinet signed the agreement on ‘Cooperation in the field of Mass Media’ with the member nations of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO). This will help to create innovations in the mass media sector.
