Current Context: The 17th World Congress of the International Federation for Cervical Pathology and Colposcopy 2021 (IFCPC 2021) was held in a virtual manner.
17th World Congress for Cervical Pathology and Colposcopy
  • It was inaugurated by Vice President Shri Venkaiah Naidu and addressed by Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Dr Harsh Vardhan.
  • The event observed the participation of eminent doctors, professors of medical science and stalwarts of the medical fraternity specializing in Cervical Pathology and Colposcopy.
  • The event was organised by Indian Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology.
  • It was held under the theme of the World congress i.e. ‘Eliminating Cervical Cancer: Call for Action’. The theme is aligned to the WHO call for Elimination of Cervical Cancer by 2030.
  • Union Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan stated that Cervical Cancer is the 4th most common cancer in women and which is affecting millions of women across the world. He mentioned measures taken by India to Stop Cervical Cancer.
  • He mentioned India’s National Cancer Control Program.
  • He also stated that how the GOI is offering the intervention to end Cancer through the Ayushman Bharat Programme.
  • He mentioned that treatment of cancer is being offered to the economically vulnerable population through Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna.
