2nd India-Ghana Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) 2021

Current Context: The 2nd edition of India-Ghana Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) 2021 was held recently at the capital of Ghana, named Acra.

  • The Indian side was represented by Rahul Chhabra, Secretary of Economic Relations. The Ghanaian side was represented by Kwaku Ampratwum Sarpong, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
  • The dignitaries discussed bilateral trade and investment, development partnership, capacity building, defence cooperation, security-related issues, people to people linkages, pending MoUs, regional, and global issues.
  • Both the nations agreed to cooperate in COVID-19 related issues. India also assured to help Ghana to grant Covid Vaccines.
  • India assured to donate 50,000 Covid Vaccine to Ghana as a gesture of friendship & solidarity and 6,00,000 Covishield made-in-India vaccines under the COVAX initiative.
  • MoU was signed between India's Global Centre for Nuclear Energy Partnership (GCNEP) and Ghana Atomic Energy Commission (GAEC) for human resource development and capacity building. The MoU will help to improve the technical capabilities of the GAEC.
