Current Context: The ‘Fund for Industrial Research Engagement (FIRE)’ was launched by Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) in partnership with Intel India.

• The Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) is a statutory body of the Department of Science and Technology (DST).
• The FIRE was launched to advance deep tech-based research opportunities in India.
• It will offer researchers a platform to perform industry-related opportunities in the areas like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), platform systems, circuits & architecture, Internet of Things (IoT), materials & devices, security, and edge to cloud.
• The FIRE will help to fulfil DST’s vision to promote research in the critical areas of science and engineering with Public-Private Partnerships.
