Current Context: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has approved to help the Government of India to implement satellite TV Classrooms for school students.

  • The presentation for the same was made by scientists from ISRO regarding the proposed satellite TV classroom for students before officials of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and Doordarshan.
  • In this regard, the ISRO gave approval to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education to offer technical support for satellite TV classrooms in India.
  • This initiative will help to bridge the learning gap which has arisen due to the lockdown situation in the country.
  • ISRO is totally ready to provide satellite rights to the states to start satellite TV classrooms.
  • Initially, Vinay Sahastrabuddhe-led parliamentary panel and had asked ISRO whether it will offer technical guidance for satellite TV classrooms for students in India.
