National CoE for Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics

Current Context: The National Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics will soon be set up by the Union Government.

• It will help to provide a platform for Indian talent to be a part of the Indian and Global sector of Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics.
• The CoE will be set up in partnership with IIT Bombay.
• The CoE will help the experts and skilled manpower associated with the animation and the VFX sector through training courses from Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute and Film and Television Institute of India. The courses will be held in the area of Animation and VFX.
• The CoE for Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics will also attract foreign investment in the film industry.
• The announcement for this CoE was made by the Minister of Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur in a written format as a reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha.
