President appointed New Governors to the 8 States

Current Context: As per Article 155 of the Indian Constitution, the President holds the responsibility to appoint Governor of a state and as per Article 159 of the Indian Constitution, the Chief Justice of the concerned state High Court holds the authority to administer the oath of office to the Governor.
President appointed New Governors to the 8 States
  • Below is the list of newly appointed governors by the President Ram Nath Kovind
    • (a) Thawarchand Gehlot: He was appointed as the Governor of Karnataka. Prior to this appointment, he was serving as the Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment
    • (b) Mangubhai Chhaganbhai Patel: He was appointed as the Governor of Madhya Pradesh.
    • (c) Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati: He was appointed as the Governor of Mizoram.
    • (d) Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar: He was appointed as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh.
    • (e) P.S. Sreedharan Pillai: He was appointed as the Governor of Goa. Prior to this appointment, he was serving as the Governor of Mizoram.
    • (f) Satyadev Narayan Arya: He was appointed as the Governor of Tripura. Prior to this appointment, he was serving as the Governor of Haryana.
    • (g) Ramesh Bais: He was appointed as the Governor of Jharkhand. Prior to this appointment, he was serving as the Governor of Tripura.
    • (h) Bandaru Dattatraya: He was appointed as the Governor of Haryana. . Prior to this appointment, he was serving as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh.
