Earth Science Bodies of India and the US signed MoU

Current Context: The Earth Science Bodies of India and the United States have entered into MoU to upgrade the monsoon data analysis and weather forecast mechanisms.

• The MoU was signed between India's National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) of the US.
• The entities will work to improve monsoon data analysis and will develop cooperation for the weather forecast in the regions.
• Under the MoU, the technical cooperation will be adopted to develop Research Moored Array for African-Asian-Australian Monsoon Analysis and Prediction (RAMA) and the Ocean Moored buoy Network in the northern Indian ocean (OMNI).
• The development in RAMA and OMNI will improve weather forecasting, monsoon forecasting between NOAA and the Ministry of Earth Science, GOI.
