- The report has assessed the data disclosure performance of 29 state pollution control boards (SPCBs) and six pollution control committees (PCCs) across India.
- The State Pollution Control Boards of Odisha and Telangana are ranked at 1st position as per the report rankings.
- Out of the total state pollution control boards and pollution control committees , only 17 have scored 50% or above in terms of Transparency.
- The 17 of them are: Odisha, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Goa, Karnataka, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Kerala, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan.
- To analyse the transparency for the report, CSE collected data from two sources namely, the websites of SPCBs/PCCs and their annual reports.
- The information for the study was considered during the 2016-21 tenure.
- The indicators of the study are: Availability of information on direction/show cause/closure notices issued by boards, information on public hearings and EIA reports, non-attainment cities and polluted river stretches etc.
- The Odisha State Pollution Control Board and Telangana State Pollution Control Board have marked the transparency of 67% each and thus are at 1st ranks.
