6th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF)

Current Context: India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the 6th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in a virtual manner.

• The plenary session of the forum was organized in Vladivostok, Russia.
• India was also represented by Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri.
• At the forum, PM Modi highlighted the importance of health and pharma sectors and asked the dignitaries to enhance cooperation in these sectors.
• He also mentioned to enhance cooperation in the areas like diamond, coking coal, steel, timber, etc.
• He mentioned India’s partnership with Russia in space exploration through the Gaganyaan programme.
