Current Context: The Government of Assam signed an agreement with the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI).

  • The agreement was signed to set up an innovation fund to promote the startups in the state.
  • In this regard, the SIDBI and Assam Government signed a commitment letter of Rs 350 crore.
  • Both entities will create clusters to make the agreement work in a seamless manner and promote startups.
  • The partnership will also promote a 'one district-one-product initiative'.
  • The agreement will work to promote, finance, and develop the MSME sector.
