Current Context: India and Oman have entered into an agreement to exchange white shipping information and enhance maritime security cooperation.
India and Oman signed Agreement for Maritime Security Cooperation
  • The agreement was signed between Chief of Navy Staff Admiral Karambir Singh and his Omani counterpart Admiral Saif bin Nasser bin Mohsen Al-Rahbi in Muscat.
  • Under the agreement, the exchange of related data for the purpose of identity and movement of commercial non-military merchant vessels will take place.
  • The agreement signed between the Royal Navy of Oman and the Indian Navy will enhance the cooperation between these navies and will allow them to exchange data on merchant shipping traffic.
  • The information-sharing will take place between the Information Fusion Centre of the Indian Navy and the Maritime Security Centre of Oman Navy.
