‘Millet Mission’-- Chhattisgarh

Current Context: The Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Bhupesh Baghel launched the ‘Millet Mission’.

The ‘Millet Mission’ aims to offer proper price rates to farmers for minor cereal crops.
The mission also aims to make the state India’s millet hub.
To implement and execute the mission the state government has signed an MoU with the Indian Institute of Millet Research (IIMR), Hyderabad, and the collectors of 14 districts of the state.
Through this mission, the state farmers will also receive input assistance support for millet, procurement support, and arrangements, and best expertise advice to process the crops.
The mission will help to enhance the productivity of crops like Kodo, Kutki, and Ragi.
The farmers will be given the assistance of Rs.9000 per acre and Rs.10,000 per acre for growing Kodo, Kutki, and Ragi instead of paddy.
