Current Context: The Vodafone Idea Limited (VIL) has collaborated with Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) and Celltick to launch India’s first cell broadcast-based public warning system (PWS).
VIL partnered with APSDMA and Celltick
  • The APSDMA comes under the Government of Andhra Pradesh and Celltick is the world’s largest cell broadcast-based products provider and a global leader of PWS.
  • Due to this collaboration, Andhra Pradesh has become the first Indian state to implement Celltick’s cell broadcast-based public warning system.
  • It will deliver real-time geo-targeted warning alerts in a secure manner in 10 Indian languages during the situations like natural or man-made disasters.
  • The warning alerts will be delivered to the subscribers of VIL in the state and to the domestic/international roaming customers of VIL.
  • The Cell Broadcast Centre (CBC) of Celltick allows the authorities to make use of Vodafone Idea (Vi) networks by subscribers of Vi in the state.
