- The ‘ABHYAS’ is the High-speed Expendable Aerial Target (HEAT).
- It was test-fired from Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur off the coast of Bay of Bengal in Odisha.
- It is equipped with a MEMS-based Inertial Navigation System (INS) for navigation and Flight Control Computer (FCC) which will help in guidance and control activities.
- The ‘ABHYAS’ was developed by Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE) which is the DRDO laboratory and based in Bengaluru.
- It is developed for Indian Armed Forces and can be used as an aerial target to evaluate various missile systems.
- It is programmed to function as a fully autonomous flight and the checkout activity can be done using a laptop-based Ground Control Station (GCS).
