Current Context: The Kerala Rail has signed MoU with IISc Bangalore, IISc incubated startup L2MRail and the Society for Innovation and Development (SID).
Kerala Rail signed MoU with IISc Bangalore, L2MRail and SID
  • The objective of the MoU is to enhance rail safety, mostly in vulnerable terrains.
  • The IISc Bangalore and L2MRail have the fiber Bragg grating sensing technology. The technology helps to develop Structural Health Monitoring System (SHMS).
  • The SHMS will help to monitor the civil engineering structures of Kerala Rail projects.
  • The entities will work to generate real-time, accurate data about rail structures.
  • The experts will connect sensors in the rail structures which will generate warning alerts in case of damages.
