Current Context: The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has given NOC (No Objection Certificate) to SNV Aviation Pvt Ltd to operate commercial flight services across the country.

  • It will operate under the brand name of ‘Akasa Air’.
  • The ‘Akasa Air’ service will commence from Summer 2022.
  • After the approval of NOC, there will be a security background check of the airline entity.
  • After the security background check, the airline will have to apply for Air Operator Permit (AOP) from DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation).
  • The holder of the airline is Rakesh Jhunjhunwala and Vinay Dubey.
  • The ‘Akasa Air’ CEO position will be holded by Vinay Dubey and Rakesh Jhunjhunwala will be represented by ex-IndiGo boss Aditya Ghosh.
  • These three dignitaries will be the co-founders of ‘Akasa Air’.
  • The ‘Akasa Air’ will be the ultra-low-cost carrier and will be thus termed as India’s most affordable, dependable, and green-based airline.
  • It has planned to operate around 70 planes in the next four years.
