Current Context: The Union Minister of Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw launched Bharat Gaurav policy i.e. Bharat Gaurav Trains.
Bharat Gaurav Policy Introduced by Railway Ministry
  • The Bharat Gaurav Trains are theme-based tourist circuit trains that will be run by both the private sector and the IRCTC.
  • The policy aims to attract tourists and promote the tourism sector in India.
  • These theme-based circuit trains will offer the tourist an experience of the cultural heritage of India.
  • Under this policy, the operator/service provider/anyone can lease trains Indian Railways to run on a theme-based circuit as their special tourism package.
  • The theme will be decided by the service provider.
  • The route, package cost, halt locations, and the extra services will be decided by an operator.
  • The condition is that, under the scheme, the operator must provide an inclusive package to the tourist.
  • The size of theme-based circuit trains will be 14-20 coaches, with two guard vans.
  • The interested operators can apply online with a one-time fee of Rs 1 lakh and will have to give a security deposit of Rs 1 crore per rake. The right to use period is a minimum of 2 years to a maximum of 10 years.
