Current Context: The ‘Dairy Sahakar’ scheme was launched by the Union Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah.
‘Dairy Sahakar’ Scheme
  • It was launched at Anand, Gujarat on the occasion of the 75th Foundation Year of Amul.
  • The funds of Rs 5000 crore are sanctioned for the scheme.
  • It will be implemented by National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) under the Ministry of Cooperation.
  • The scheme will boost and supplement ongoing efforts to strengthen the dairy sector in India.
  • It will also help to double the income source of farmers.
  • It will realize the vision of ‘from cooperation to prosperity’.
  • The financial support will be offered by NCDC to eligible cooperatives to perform functions like bovine development, milk procurement, processing, quality assurance, value addition, branding, packaging, marketing, transportation, and storage of milk and milk products, exports of dairy products, etc.
