Current Context: The Indian Army’s Chinar Corps which is based in Srinagar has signed an MoU with the University of Kashmir.

  • The MoU was signed to open a system or provision for the soldiers to take educational courses through distance learning mode.
  • Due to this, the Indian Army’s personnel who are posted in Kashmir will be able to enroll and take admissions to avail various educational courses from the Directorate of Distance Education of Kashmir University.
  • They can avail themselves 6 months duration certified courses, one-year diploma courses, and two-year PG courses.
  • Around 18 different courses can be opted by the Indian Army’s personnel.
