MoRD signed MoU with Flipkart

Current Context: The Ministry of Rural Development signed MoU with e-commerce giant, Flipkart.

• The MoU was signed for the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihood Mission (DAY-NRLM).
• Under the MoU, both entities will work to empower local businesses and self-help groups (SHGs).
• The local businesses and self-help groups (SHGs) will be bought under the e-commerce field.
• The MoU will help to strengthen the capabilities of rural communities, generate self-employment and entrepreneurship skills.
• The MoU is part of Flipkart’s Samarth program.
