Pakal Dul Hydro Electric Project

Current Context: The Union Power Minister R K Singh inaugurated the diversion of the Marusudar River of Pakal Dul Hydro Electric Project in Kishtwar, J&K in a virtual manner.

• The project is 1,000 MW and is being constructed by Chenab Valley Power Projects Pvt Limited (CVPPPL) and Jammu and Kashmir State Power Development Corporation (JKSPDC).
• The river Marusudar is a major tributary of the Chenab River.
• The project is the joint venture company of JKSPDC and NHPC Ltd.
• The project will help to attain the target of 450 GW Renewable energy by 2030.
• The investment of Rs 8212 crores is made for this project in the UT, so it will give rise to direct & indirect employment opportunities.
