- The Rakshak is a road safety initiative that aims to train first responders in road accidents.
- Under the initiative, 30,000 first responders will be trained by 300 master trainers. It will be executed in 30 districts of the state.
- They will be equipped to administer first aid and pre-hospital trauma care to accident victims within the golden hour.
- The Commerce and Transport Department in partnership with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and the Indian Red Cross Society, Odisha State branch has launched the initiative.
- The initiative will be conducted in 2 phases. In the 1st phase, 300 master trainers will be trained by experts from the Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC) in ten locations of the state.
- In the 2nd phase, the 300 master trainers will visit accident-prone areas and will train locals to assist road accident victims.
