‘Ration Aapke Gram’ Scheme and ‘Sickle Cell Mission’ Launched

Current Context: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the ‘Ration Aapke Gram’ scheme and ‘Sickle Cell Mission’ in Madhya Pradesh.

• While launching, he also laid the foundation stone for 50 Eklavya Model Residential Schools in the country.
• The schemes and the foundation stone were laid during the occasion of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas which is also called Tribal Gaurav Diwas. This day is celebrated because it is the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, India’s great tribal leader.
• The ‘Ration Aapke Gram’ aims to provide monthly PDS ration to the beneficiaries belonging to janjatiya community.
• The ‘Sickle Cell Mission’ aims to perform health checkups of people suffering from sickle cell anemia, Thalassemia, and other Hemoglobinopathies.
• The mission will also generate health awareness among the people.
• At the same event, PM Modi also inaugurated redeveloped Rani Kamlapati Railway Station in Bhopal, MP, and Purvanchal Expressway in Uttar Pradesh.
