Current Context: The ‘Forbes’ list of the World’s 100 Most Powerful Women 2021’ or ‘18th Edition of Forbes’ list of the World’s 100 Most Powerful Women’ was released recently.

  • As per the list, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was ranked at 37th position. This is for the third time in a row that she has attained a position on the list.
  • Besides her, other Indians who are featured in the list are Roshni Nadar Malhotra (HCL Corporation CEO) at 52nd position, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw (Biocon Executive Chairperson) at 72nd position, and Falguni Nayar (Nykaa founder) at 88th position.
  • The list is topped by Mackenzie Scott (Jeff Bezos’ former wife). She is a Philanthropist.
  • The 2nd position is attained by US vice president Kamala Harris and the 3rd position is attained by European Central Bank head Christine Lagarde.
