Free Smartphone Yojana – Uttar Pradesh

Current Context: The Government of Uttar Pradesh will be launching an ambitious ‘Free Smartphone Yojana’.

It will be launched on 25th Dec 2021 as it is the birth anniversary of senior BJP leader and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Under the scheme, the state government will distribute smartphones and tablets to the students studying in the final year of graduation and above.
Around, 60,000 smartphones and 40,000 tablets to the youths will be distributed.
To avail of the benefit of the scheme, more than 38 lakh youths have registered themselves on Digi Shakti Portal.
To avail of the benefit of the scheme, the candidate must be a student, resident of the state, and must have secured 60% and above.
Preference will be given to the youths studying in the final year of MA, BA, BSc, ITI, MBBS, MD, BTech, and MTech.
The annual income of the family must be less than 2 lakh per annum.
