Pact signed between JICA and TN Health Dept.

Current Context: The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Tamil Nadu's Health and Family Welfare Department have entered into a Record of Discussions (RoD) agreement with an aim to strengthen the health sector in the state.

• The RoD was signed to prevent and control Non-Communicable Diseases in the state.
• The project for the same is termed as ‘Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases in Tamil Nadu project’.
• The project will be executed from the fourth quarter of FY21.
• Both entities will work to focus on strengthening the technical and management features of the project in order to attain the ultimate goal of the RoD pact.
• The experts of JICA will provide guidance to the state government to prevent and control NCD.
