Current Context: The government of Assam has entered into a partnership with National Dairy Development Board by signing an agreement.

  • Under this partnership, they will be creating a Rs 2,000-crore joint venture to have holistic development of the dairy sector in the state.
  • A joint venture company will be established by allocating funds of upto Rs 2000 crore. It will process 10 lakh liters of milk through six new units in seven years.
  • At the venture company, processing, packing, and marketing of the milk from more than 4,100 dairy cooperative societies will take place and will benefit more than 1,75,000 dairy farmers.
  • Also, two cattle feed and organic manure manufacturing units will be set up.
