Current Context: The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has entered into a partnership with The Akshaya Patra Foundation (TAPF).
UN’s WFP partnered with TAPF
  • They have partnered to give enhancement support to school meals programs in India.
  • They will work to enhance the effectiveness of the Pradhan Mantri Poshan Shakti Nirman (PM POSHAN) scheme i.e. the Mid-day meal facility in Indian schools.
  • They will work together and share expertise to have food safety, food hygiene, capacity building of cooks and helpers, and enhancing nutritional content in the food they will provide.
  • Both the entities will organize workshops, frame policy and strategy dialogues with the Government to improve the quality of the school meals program.
