21st TERI’s World Sustainable Development Summit 2022

Current Context: The 21st The Energy and Resources Institute’s (TERI) World Sustainable Development Summit was held recently in a virtual manner.

• The inaugural session was addressed by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
• Other dignitaries present at the event were Luis Abinader, President of the Dominican Republic, Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, Ms. Amina J Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General, United Nations, and Union Minister Bhupender Yadav.
• The theme of the summit: ‘Towards a Resilient Planet: Ensuring a Sustainable and Equitable Future.’
• The dignitaries discussed climate change, sustainable production, energy transitions, and resource security.
• At the summit, Vedanta signed MoU with TERI to promote sustainable use of resources for a resilient planet through transformative actions.
• The strategy papers namely ‘Act4Earth Manifesto’ and ‘Act4Earth Strategy Paper’ were launched at the summit.
