Current Context: The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has approved Rs 235 crore to Andhra Pradesh.
MoHUA has Approved Rs 235 crore to Andhra Pradesh
  • The funds are approved under the ‘Garbage Free Cities’ vision.
  • It is the largest one-time approval of funds for legacy dumpsite restoration.
  • The center will allot Rs 77.66 crore for this initiative and the rest will be covered by the state.
  • Legacy dumpsites are a severe environmental danger and create air pollution and hence necessary to clean them.
  • The legacy dumpsites are decomposed organic waste which is mixed with sand, silt, demolition, and construction waste fragments.
