Current Context: The National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) and World Economic Forum (WEF) have entered into the MoU for the ‘Sustainable Cities India program’.
MoU signed between NIUA and WEF
  • The program aims to develop an environment for cities that will have decarbonization solutions across energy, transport.
  • The partnership and the program are in line with PM’s vision for India to turn net-zero by 2070 as a climate mitigation response at COP26.
  • The program will guide cities to adopt a systematic and sustainable way to reduce emissions and have resilient and equitable urban ecosystems.
  • Both the entities will adopt Forum’s City Sprint process and Toolbox of Solutions for decarbonization.
  • The City Sprint process is a series of multi-sectoral, multi-stakeholder workshops that will be held for leaders of business, government, and civil society.
  • The relevant policies and business models will be discussed in the workshop and the appropriate ones will be implemented to gain the objective of MoU.
