NHPC Renewable Energy Limited (NREL)

Current Context: NHPC Limited has set up a new wholly-owned subsidiary company.

• The name of the company is ‘NHPC Renewable Energy Limited (NREL)’.
• The NREL is set up to work for the development of Renewable Energy, Small Hydro, and Green Hydrogen areas related to NHPC Ltd.
• The NREL is incorporated with the Registrar of Companies, NCT of Delhi & Haryana.
• At present, NHPC has a total generation capacity of 7071 megawatts which is comprised of 100MW of projects based on solar and wind energy.
• It has 5999 megawatts of hydro plant capacity and 105 megawatts of solar plant capacity which are in the construction process.
