Scheme for Economic Empowerment of DNTs (SEED)

Current Context: The Scheme for Economic Empowerment of DNTs (SEED) was launched by Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Dr. Virendra Kumar.

• It was launched at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi.
• The scheme aims to look after the welfare of De-notified, Nomadic, and Semi Nomadic Communities i.e. DNT/NT/SNT.
• The DNT/NT/SNT is the most neglected, marginalized, and economically and socially deprived communities and so the scheme was launched to uplift the communities.
• Under the scheme, coaching about competitive examinations will be granted to the candidates of the communities so that they can appear for the exams and get jobs.
• Health insurance will be granted.
• Various livelihoods initiatives will be undertaken at the community level which will strengthen small clusters of DNT/NT/SNT Communities institutions.
• Financial support will be granted to construct houses for these communities.
