Current Context: The government of Odisha has signed an agreement with the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD).

  • The agreement was signed to create fish infrastructure in order to enhance fish production in the state.
  • The Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund will support the development of infrastructure in the marine sectors of the state.
  • The funds of Rs 119.8 crore are sanctioned for the same.
  • They have set the target to attain sustainable growth of 8-9% to enhance fish production capacity to 20 million tonnes by 2022-23.
