Current Context: Shaheed Diwas, also known as Martyrs' Day, is celebrated on March 23 every year.

• 23rd March is celebrated as Shaheed Diwas as on this date in 1931, freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru, and Sukhdev Thapar were hanged to death by British rules.
• The 3 revolutionaries were hanged after getting arrested in 1928 for the murder of British police officer John Saunders.
