Asset Monetisation under NMP exceeds the Government Target for FY 2022

Current Context: The investment under the National Monetization Pipeline has reached 96000 crore Indian Rupees, as against the government’s target of 88,000 cr Indian Rupees.

• The ambitious National Monetization Pipeline (NMP) mooted in August 2021, has a target of raising 6 Lakh crore rupees over 4 years from 2022-to 2025.
• Its focus sectors are Roads, Railways, Power, Coal, Mining, among others.
• NMP focuses on Brownfield projects and aims to monetize them. Ex. Monetizing a National Highway under the TOT Model (Toll Operated Transfer).
