Current Context: Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has committed that 100 Integrated Command Centres will be ready by 15th Aug 2022.

  • An Integrated Command Centre is the nodal center for controlling and monitoring smart city projects. It will streamline all the data from housing, electricity, water usage, waste management, etc, to the benefit of analytics to save more energy and reduce the carbon footprint.
  • The Smart City Mission is an ambitious project launched in the year 2015, to make 100 smart cities and the outlay for this project so far has been 94 bn USD.
  • Integrated command centres will have state-of-the-art technology to collate data and use it for smart management that would promote sustainable habitat. It will also help India achieve the SDGs.
