- A two-day National Level Pollution Response Exercise of the Indian Coast Guard has been inaugurated in Marmagao. The exercise is called NATPOLREX -VIII.
- The objective of NATPOLREX - VIII will focus on enhancing the preparedness and response capability of all the stakeholders to combat marine Spills. Marine Spill is a new disaster that has a negative impact on the Blue Economy.
- It will augment the National Oil Spill Disaster Contingency Plan envisioned by the government of India. The event will be attended by over 85 participants including Coast Guard Ships from the neighboring states of Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
