- Important Cabinet Approvals: The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved a moratorium of three years for Cochin Port Authority (CoPA) for repayment of loans amounting to Rs. 446.83 crores to the central government.
- It has also approved the proposal for the development of Phase 1 of the new greenfield airport in Dholera, Gujarat at an estimated cost of Rs. 1,305 crore. It will be completed by 2025-26.
- The Union Cabinet approved Agnipath, a new recruitment scheme for Indian youth to serve in the armed forces. The scheme will allow youths to serve in the Armed Forces for four years.
- Acquisitions: The Competition Commission of India (CCI) approved Tata Group-owned Air India’s proposal to buy the entire equity share capital of low-cost carrier AirAsia India, in which Tata has a majority stake, to merge into a single airline.
- SANA Health Solutions has launched its digital healthcare business intending to simplify the long and tedious search for employee welfare and healthcare programs.
- According to Gartner, Inc Indian government’s spending on information technology is expected to grow 12.1% to $9.5 billion in 2022, far higher than the 5% rise globally.
