  • National News
    • Union Minister of petroleum and natural gas & housing and urban affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri dedicates 166 CNG stations across 14 states.
      • The CNG stations have been set up by the Gas Authority of India Ltd (GAIL) and nine of its City Gas Distribution (CGD) companies in 41 geographical areas across 14 states.
      • Today India has 4500 CNG stations with a plan to increase it to 8000 in the next 2 years. In 2014 country had only 900 CNG stations.
      • The stations were dedicated by Hardeep Singh Puri via video link at the function whereally Minister of state for petroleum and natural gas and labour and employment Rameswar Teli, Secretary ministry of petroleum and natural gas Pankaj Jain was present.

    • PM Modi launches a 296 km long Bundelkhand expressway in Uttar Pradesh.
      • Bundelkhand expressway passes through seven districts of Uttar Pradesh and has been constructed at a cost of around 14,850 crores.
      • The foundation stone of the expressway was laid by PM Modi on February 29, 2020.
      • The expressway extends from NH-35 at Gonda village near Bharatkoop in Chitrakoot district near Kudrail village in Etawah district, where it merges with the Agra-Lucknow expressway.
  • State news
    • Assam and Arunachal Pradesh governments signed a pact to resolve border disputes. Agree to restrict the number of disputed villages to 86 instead of 123.
      • The chief minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sharma, and Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu signed a document 'Namsai Declaration'.
      • This is the third time the inter-state boundary dispute between the two neighbor states is being resolved.
      • The regional committee will submit the first tranche of reports by September 15, 2022.
  • Banking and Finance News
    • Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and Bank Indonesia (BI) enters into an agreement to expand cooperation in payment systems, digital financial innovation, anti-money laundering, and compacting financing of terrorism.
      • The two central banks signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Bali on the sidelines of the G20 finance ministers and central bank governors' meeting to improve cooperation.
      • The MoU was signed by RBI deputy governor, Michael Debabrata Patra and Bank Indonesia deputy governor Dobi BudI Waluyo in presence of RBI governor Shaktikanta Das and BI governor Perry Warjiyo.
  • Appointments
    • Wall Street veteran Marty Chavez is appointed to the board of Google parent Alphabet Inc., adding significant Finance muscle to the technology giant.
  • State News
    • India reports the first case of monkeypox in Kerala.
      • A high-level committee chaired by Health minister Veena George said a special alert has been issued in five districts, Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, and Kottayam where co-passengers of the infected person in the Sharjah-Thiruvananthapuram Indigo flight landed on July 12.
      • There were 164 passengers and 6 cabin crew on board.
  • Sports
    • Former India captain and current BCCI president, Sourav Ganguly was felicitated by the British Parliament.
    • On 20th May 2013, Ganguly was awarded with the Banga Bibhushan Award from the Government of West Bengal.
