    • UK national security advisor Sir Stephan Lovegrove meets National Security advisor of India Ajit Doval to discuss security and strategic issues including that related to China, Afghanistan, and terrorism.
      • Indian Space Research Organisation, ISRO Chairman S Somnath along with other senior scientists inaugurated the Human Space Flight Expo at Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium in Bengaluru to commemorate the Azadi ki Amrit Mahotsav.
  • Appointments and Resignations
    • The International Hockey Federation (FIH) appointed Egypt's Seif Ahmed as its acting president following Indian administrator Narinder Batra's resignation from the post.
    • Sheikh Mohammed Sabah Al Salem Al Sabah has been appointed the new Prime Minister of Kuwait, three months after the ex-Kuwaiti government resigned.
    • Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi resigned after failing to unite his coalition government. Mario Draghi submitted his resignation to President Sergio Mattarella during a meeting at Quirinale palace.
      • Mario Draghi was a former European Central Bank Chief. He served as the Prime Minister of Italy from February 2021.

    • July 22 - World brain day
      • The day marks the establishment of the World Federation of Neurology on July 22, 1957. Public awareness and Advocacy Committee suggested that July 22, 2014, should be celebrated as 'World Brain day'. The main aim of this day is to promote public awareness of the importance of brain health.
      • The theme of World Brain day 2022 - is "Brain health for all"
  • State News
    • Kerala government plans to set up studio apartments for working women across the state at the Kinfra International apparel park campus in Menamkulam. The objective of setting up Studio apartments for working women is to ensure the safety and security of women who come to work in a different place.
    • The Bhavanam foundation of Kerala was entrusted to implement the project. In phase 1 of the project, a six-story studio apartment with 130 units will be built.

    • Asian Development Bank (ADB) lowers India's GDP to 7.2 percent for FY23 from 7.5 percent projected in April.
    • GDP growth for FY2022 is revised to 8.7 percent from 8.9 percent.

    • This year marks the 131st edition of the Durand Cup and will see the participation of 20 teams, including 11 teams from the Indian Super League.
  • Science and Technology
    • Indian Institute of Science Bengaluru (IISc) develops new technology to produce green hydrogen. The technology is said to produce 100 grams of hydrogen from one kilogram of biomass.
    • The hydrogen production will be done in two phases. First, the biomass will be converted to syngas (a hydrogen-rich fuel gas mixture) through a reactor using oxygen and steam. Then the pure hydrogen will be produced from syngas using an indigenously developed low-pressure gas separation unit.
