    • 27 July 2022 – 84th Raising Day of (Central Reserve Police Force) CRPF - The CRPF was raised on July 27 in 1939 as Crown Representative's Police before a change in its nomenclature after Independence.
  • Obituary:
    • US actor Paul Sorvino, best known for playing Paulie Cicero in the 1990 mobster classic Goodfellas, has died at age 83. Roger Neal, his publicist, said he died of natural causes at his home in Indiana.

  • Banking and Finance
    • International Monetary fund (IMF) slashes India's GDP growth forecast by 80 basis points to 7.4 percent for FY23 citing less favorable external conditions and policy tightening by the central bank.
    • Piramal enterprises get approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to start a Non-banking Finance Company (NBFC). RBI has given a certificate of registration to commence the business of NBFC without accepting public deposits.
      • Piramal enterprise has earlier acquired Dewan housing finance (DHFL) for Rs 35,250 crore.
  • Sports
    • India to host ICC women's ODI cricket World cup in 2025. Sri Lanka will host the ICC women's T20 Trophy in 2027 subject to them qualifying for the event and Bangladesh will host the Women's T20 World Cup for the second time.
      • The hosts were selected by a competitive bidding process overseen by a board of sub-committee chaired by Martin Snedden, Clare Connor, Sourav Ganguly, and Ricky Skerritt.
    • MasterCard replaces Paytm as BCCI's (Board of Control for Cricket in India) new title sponsor of all international and domestic cricket in India. The series against Australia in September will be Mastercards 1st series as the title sponsor of BCCI.
    • Oscar and Grammy award-winning music composer A R Rahman unveils the official anthem "Vanakkam Chennai" for the 44th International Chess Olympiad to be held in Chennai, Tamil Nadu from July 28 to August 10.
  • Defence
    • Tata Advanced Systems Ltd (TASL), Tata groups arm for aerospace and defence delivered an Indigenously developed Quick Reaction Fighting Vehicle-Medium (QRFV) to the Indian army.
    • Garuda aerospace a developer of low-cost drones will support the Indian army in conducting trials with drones. The main aim is to demonstrate drones and anti-drones technology to diversify applications and provide support for security.
  • National News
    • India adds five more wetlands to the Ramsar site list. The new sites are Karikili bird sanctuary, Pallikaranai Marsh reserve forest, Pichavaram mangrove in Tamil Nadu, Pala wetland in Mizoram, and Sakhya Sagar in Madhya Pradesh.
    • Now there is a total of 54 Ramsar sites in India. India on February 2, World wetland day has added Khijadia wildlife sanctuary in Gujarat and Bakhira wildlife sanctuary in Uttar Pradesh. Ramsar Convention on wetland was signed in 1971 and is named after the city of Ramsar in Iran.
  • International News:
    • The head of Russia's space agency announced the country's intent to withdraw from the International Space Station after 2024. A day later, Roscosmos officials clarified to NASA that Russia would remain involved with the ISS until at least 2028.
  • Business:
    • The RBI has granted a certificate of registration to Piramal Enterprises to commence the business of a non-banking financial institution without accepting public deposits. The license was received by the company on July 26.
