- Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai announced that the government will provide 2 percent reservation to sportspersons in all the state departments.
- The 2 percent reservation to the sports persons will be given to Police and Forest departments.
- This was announced at a function in Bengaluru to felicitate 75 sports persons who are selected under the 'Amrit Kreeda Dattu' scheme and those who had won medals in Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022 .
- Karnataka is the first state to implement the 'Kreeda Dattu' scheme and to improve the sports stadia. Ashwini Ponnapa, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Gururaj Poojary, Ankitha Suresh and Priya Mohan, and other athletes were felicitated on the occasion. The athletes were given cheques ranging from 5 lakh to 15 lakh on behalf of the state government.
